Private First Class Carl Bradford was the victim of the crash which occurred around 7 a.m. near 3655 Crompond Road in Yorktown, according to Col. Richard Goldenberg of the New York National Guard.

Yorktown Police reported that one of the drivers reportedly veered into the wrong lane, leading to the crash.

Bradford, of Pennsylvania, was a motor vehicle transport operator in the 719th Transportation Company, currently based at the Camp Smith Training Site in Cortlandt Manor.  He first joined the armed forces in January 2013, Goldenberg said.

Final arrangements will be made and announced by the Bradford family, Goldenberg added.

The motor vehicle accident remains under investigation by local authorities.
